Accessibility, Equity, and Inclusion in Media and Technology

Description:

This course provides a critical orientation to issues of accessibility, equity, and inclusion in media, technology, and learning design. Students will examine, analyze, and evaluate matters related to the structures and impacts of technology on gender, race, ability, and other differentials. Students will strengthen their critical thinking skills in using, consuming, and designing with media and technology, applying accessibility strategies to improve access, expand inclusion, and enhance opportunities for diverse perspectives.

Learning Goals:

Develop Comprehensive Understanding: Understand the core concepts of accessibility, equity, and inclusion within media, technology, and learning design.
Promote Inclusive Design: Acquire practical skills to design media, technology, and learning experiences that incorporate accessibility strategies, expand inclusion, and provide equitable opportunities for diverse perspectives.
Enhance Advocacy and Awareness: Cultivate a sense of advocacy for accessibility and equity, advocate in your school or workplace for inclusive practices, and raise awareness about the significance of diversity and inclusion in media and technology.
